Cooking can help young kids learn and practice some basic math concepts and build language skills. The experience of creating meals can also help build their self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits. 

When students cook at Red Wagon they: 

  • Practice literacy skills when reading and learning new recipes
  • Develop social skills as they work in groups to create recipes
  • Use math skills when they measure ingredients 
  • Understand chemistry principles through the process of cooking
